Print the 3 required sheets. You need scissors, a ruler, a pencil or pen and paper glue. Use paper your printer supports; trial thickness before making a gift.
No cutting machine, hole punch or double-sided printing is needed.
Print the right pages
Choose the actual paper in your printer. Print single-sided at 100% / Actual size. Check the 50 mm ruler before cutting. Print backgrounds, cards and folded pieces separately when changing paper stock.

Cut the required pieces
Cut the solid outlines of FL01-a, FL03-a, FL03-b, FL02-a. Keep the tabs attached to FL03-b; dashed lines are folds.

Write your letter
Write your letter on the blank reverse of FL01-a. The illustrated side becomes the outside.

Fold the letter
Fold FL01-a at its dashed centre with your writing inside. Its folded outer size is 78 x 108 mm.

Add a question
Write one question on FL02-a for your friend to answer. Leave the reply area free.

Fold the three tabs
Turn FL03-b printed face down. Fold its left, right and bottom tabs toward you along the dashed lines; the printed hatched faces become visible on the back.

Check the position without glue
Place FL03-a printed face up. Set the front over its lower section, also printed face up, with the bottom and both sides aligned. The top 40 mm of the back stays visible.

Attach the folded tabs
Apply a thin layer of glue only to the three folded hatched tabs of FL03-b, then press them onto the printed side of FL03-a at the checked position. Leave the centre and top opening unglued.

Slide in your keepsake
After the glue has dried, slide FL01-a into the open top without forcing it. Tuck FL02-a in with the letter; check both together for bulk.

Do not glue the top edge or the centre. The pocket is for a journal or an inner gift; it is not a tested postal envelope. Physical paper thickness and insertion clearance remain unverified.
