Open the matching PDF
Choose A4 for 210 × 297 mm paper, or Letter for 8.5 × 11 inch paper. Print the downloaded PDF, rather than a screenshot or the webpage.
Set the size before printing
Select Actual size / 100%, one page per sheet and single-sided. Turn off Fit, shrink and borderless enlargement. Use paper supported by your printer.
Measure, then cut and use
Measure the 50 mm ruler printed on the sheet: aim for 50 mm, within ±0.5 mm. If it is off, correct the settings before printing more. Cut BG05 on its solid outlines, then write on your cards and labels. This first sheet needs no folding or glue.

Optional calibration PDF — ruler, square and line samples
This is a test page, not a journal printable. It contains a 50 mm ruler, a 25.4 mm square, cut/fold/glue examples and four colour swatches. It contains no cards, decorations or project pieces.

If the size is wrong, turn off Fit or enlargement and recheck the loaded paper size. Swatches can reveal an obvious printing problem; they cannot certify colour accuracy.
Choose paper for what you are making
Start with paper your printer supports. Use one sheet to check whether writing, cutting and any folds work before printing a full kit. Paper weights and physical fit have not been tested for this edition.
- Writing and layering: check that your pen writes cleanly and the page is not too bulky for your journal.
- Pockets and envelopes: check that the paper folds cleanly and the opening remains usable.
- Removable cards: try one piece in the intended pocket before printing more.
If a project needs different paper for different pieces, print its relevant page numbers separately or use individual sheet downloads.
Fix a printing or download problem
I do not have a printer
Save the A4 or Letter PDF for the paper your print service offers. Ask: “Please print this PDF single-sided, one page per sheet, at 100% / Actual size, without Fit or borderless enlargement.” Ask for one sample and measure its printed ruler before ordering more.
Can I print in black and white?
Choose grayscale and test one actual sheet. Check that the writing rules, cut lines and fold lines remain visible; pale artwork may change or disappear. Keep a useful result as part of your journal. There is no separately verified low-ink or grayscale edition.
The ruler is too short or too long
Match the PDF size to the loaded paper, choose Actual size / 100%, and turn off Fit and borderless expansion. If needed, use the optional size-test page to check both directions. Do not resize only one component to compensate.
The printed edge is missing, or margins look large
Keep the designed white margins. The content frame has the same physical size on A4 and Letter. Borderless mode can enlarge or crop it. If content is still clipped at 100%, check your printer's printable area before trying more pages.
Colours look dark, pale or different
Check the loaded paper type and the printer's matching paper and quality settings. Try one actual sheet before a whole set; change only one setting at a time. Screen colour is not proof of printed colour, and this edition has not been tested on physical printers.
The card catches or the flap will not close
Check the design ID, revision, ruler, fold direction and paper thickness. Glue only the marked tabs, leave openings free and let the glue dry. The stated outside size is not a guaranteed inside capacity. Stop if the piece catches; do not force it.
The download does not start
Select a paper size, then check your browser's downloads. You can also use the direct A4 or Letter links, or Open PDF and your viewer's save control. On mobile, look for Save to Files or Share. “Download requested” does not confirm that a file has been saved.
The selected-sheet PDF could not be prepared
Your choices stay selected. Retry with a stable connection, choose fewer sheets if memory is limited, or use the individual sheet links. Cancel stops the operation without clearing your list.
The preview is missing or looks blurry
Open the sheet page for a larger preview or open the actual PDF. A missing preview does not prevent downloading. Always print the PDF, not the preview image.
A file fails integrity verification
Stop using that file and affected sets. Return after the file has been repaired; the site will not offer the same rejected file as a fallback. Do not try to resize or repair it yourself.
Read the marks on project pieces
Solid outline: cut. Dashed line: fold. Hatched GLUE area: glue only there. Leave marked openings free. Single-sided designs have an unprinted reverse.
