Practical print guide
Print Your Pages with Confidence
Set up your home printer with a small proof, the right page size and a paper that suits your project.
1. Paper size
US Letter vs A4
Choose the file that matches your paper: US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in; A4 is 210 × 297 mm. Do not scale one to imitate the other.
2. Ink choice
Full Color vs Low Ink
Full Color keeps richer paper layers. Low Ink reduces large area coverage while retaining cut and fold guidance.
3. Scale settings
Actual Size first
Use Actual Size / 100% for tags and pockets. Fit to Page can prevent clipping, but it can make cut pieces smaller.
4. Paper types
Choose for the job
Matte cardstock suits tags and covers. Regular paper layers well. Sticker paper and vellum need a small proof first.
5. Margins & prep
Check the edges
Most printers have non-printable margins. Check your proof before trimming, folding or printing a batch.
6. Troubleshooting
Keep it practical
If colors look dark, try the Low Ink file. If details crop, recheck paper size and scale. Let vellum prints dry fully.
